Overview
See Deleted Reddit Posts ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that restores deleted or removed Reddit content using a public third-party archive. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the Extension processes and what it does not.
Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address, phone, etc.).
- We do not track your browsing history.
- We do not use cookies or analytics services.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for marketing.
Data the Extension processes
To restore deleted content, the Extension sends limited public information to the Arctic Shift archive API:
- Post IDs and subreddit names from the Reddit page you are currently viewing.
- Usernames when you visit a Reddit user profile page that is hidden or deleted.
This data is sent over HTTPS only when you visit a Reddit page where the Extension is active. No data is sent for any other browsing activity.
Local storage
The Extension stores the following data locally in your browser using chrome.storage:
- Your preferences (theme, blocklist, feature toggles).
- Cached archive responses to reduce repeated API calls.
- Install date (used solely to differentiate new vs. existing users for future feature gating).
This data never leaves your browser unless you have Chrome Sync enabled, in which case it is synced across your own Chrome installations by Google.
Third-party services
The Extension connects to:
- Arctic Shift (arctic-shift.photon-reddit.com) — public Reddit archive API used to fetch deleted content.
- Reddit API — to look up post metadata.
These services have their own privacy policies and are not under our control.
Children's privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
